R-1130 Railgear

G & B Specialties’ Model R-1130 railgear is designed for vehicles with GVWR’s of 33,000 lbs or larger, using high carbon steel and hardened steel castings. The   R-1130 front railgear utilizes the vehicle’s front suspension and the frame to lift the front wheels off the track approximately two inches. The dual scissor rear railgear attaches to the vehicle’s frame behind the spring hangers. The scissor-design makes for a more speedy operation of getting the vehicle on track and off track. The rear gear also incorporates “Cushion-Ride” springs for constant railhead pressure.  With the R-1130, there are no limits imposed. If the vehicle can support the load, so can the railgear.

G & B Specialties Model R-150 is applicable to vehicles up to 6,500 lbs GVWR. Both rotating and vertical front railgear are available. Railgear locks automatically in both road and rail position. Proven “Cushion-Ride” suspension provides superior ride quality, reduced vibration through the vehicle frame, less component stress, and constant rail wheel to rail contact. No railgear adjustments are required for varying loads. Rail wheel assemblies are bolted to the axles for simple wheel alignment. All four rail wheels provide full track circuit isolation. Included 12VDC electric / hydraulic pump and reservoir with sealed push button controls provides safe and easy access to the rail. Optional in-cab railgear controls are available. Few moving parts result in low maintenance and lubrication costs. Fully installed weight is approximately 300 lbs front and 300 lbs rear. Uses light weight 8” diameter cast steel wheels with heavy-duty tapered roller bearings. Rotating rear railgear is standard.

G & B’s Rail Mounted Circuit Controller mounts to the base of the rail, utilizing the Model 856/U-5 or Model 956/7K & 7J circuit controllers. It is an optimal choice for adding temporary point detection to dark territory switch locations for PTC. It can also be applied to standard switch layouts or swing nose frog layouts. Tie crib width must be a minimum of 13”. G&B’s Rail Mount clamps to rail sizes 115lb and higher and has a 1” clearance below the head of the stock rail. Rubber mounting washers reduces vibration and Nord-lock washers with a wire tie secures the unit to the base of the rail.

Riveted Rail Skate

G&B Specialties’ Riveted Rail Skate is a heavy-duty device used to stop railcars moving at normal switching speeds. These skates are made for severe service, especially in classification yards, where long and very heavy trains are being formed. The skate is placed in front of the moving railcar. The sharp, tapered tail of the skate lets the wheel mount and slide with the skate. A hardened high back prevents the wheel from jumping over. The ensuing friction brings the railcar to a gradual stop. Standard color is aluminum; however, fluorescent orange and safety yellow is available for increased night visibility.

Switch Point Rollers

Due to the development of longer high-speed switches and the continued use of heavy rail sections, G&B Specialties offers a variety of switch point rollers to significantly reduce the effort required in switch point movement. By lifting the point off the gage plates as the switch is thrown, these rollers reduce the friction between the switch point and gage plates, consequently, reducing the force needed to throw the switch. Both “top of tie” and “in the crib” designs are available. These devices are easily installed on 115lb RE and heavier rail on existing or new switches and are especially advantageous when used on manual operated switches, spring switches and power operates switches.
