Wabtec Positive Train Control PTC products Ground Contacts

Ground Contacts (Frost)

Frost® Ground Contacts The mechanical structure of our frost® ground contacts meet effective national and international standards and directives. Material pairing is consistently optimised. The design resp. working direction of the carbon brush is distinguished between axial and radial active contact system. Conventional round brush designs have been replaced by multiple brush designs in the area of standard applications. The reasons for this are, among others, the increased possible power transmission and in part, the simpler make-up of the contacts. We have consistently continued to develop the successful path to multiple brush contacts and in the process, devised the successful frost® pressure system.

Wabtec g&b specialties Hinged Derail

Hinged Derail

A derail is a device that will derail any railroad rolling stock, including mainline locomotives. Employees working on or around the track with nearby rolling stock, must be protected by a derail. As the flange of the train wheel comes in contact with the derail, it lifts the wheel and deflects it away from the rail head, and thus, the wheels are halted by becoming imbedded in the track ballast.

Model 854 Electric Switch Lock

The Model 854 Electric Switch Lock is used to securely lock the hand-throw lever of a hand-operated switch machine or ground-throw switch stand in the normal position. It provides a means of interlocking a manually operated switch with the signal circuits so that the switch may not be operated unless traffic conditions permit, or unless the normally sealed emergency release is operated. This switch lock may be applied to either a right or left hand layout. The Model 854 Switch Lock has a durable cast-construction. The relay is designed to operate at 100 ohms on 8 to 12V dc. If AC operation is required, a transformer and rectifier are required in separate housing.
