Model 856 Switch Circuit Controller

G&B Specialties’ Model 856 switch circuit controller provides reliable positive electrical detection of the position of rail switch points. Model 856 controllers can also detect the position of derails, bridge locks and slide detectors. Additionally, they are capable of controlling relay circuits or shunting track circuits. The Model 856 switch circuit controller is available in a four-way configuration for two-position, three-position and polarized applications. A two-position controller may be used without change of parts for polarized application by proper cam and circuit adjustments. A two-position controller may also be used as a three-position controller for two circuits by using two cam spaces for each three-position circuit and the proper cam adjustments. A three-position controller for four circuits is obtained by substituting combined three-position cams, in place of a two-position cam and the substitution of the camshaft. The terminals, contacts, operating cams and other components are installed in a rugged cast iron weatherproof housing. A hinged cast iron cover (aluminum also available) provides easy access to the interior for inspection, adjustment and maintenance of parts.

Model 953 Electric Switch Lock

The Model 953 Electric Switch Lock prevents unauthorized and unwarranted operation of switch stands, hand throw switch machines, derails, and other devices. This is done by using a plunger that is lowered into a hole in a lock rod, preventing motion of the attached devices. The unit may be electrically interlocked with the signaling system or remotely locked by the dispatcher, preventing switch operation unless traffic conditions allow safe operation.

Model 956 Switch Circuit Controller

The Model 956 Circuit Controller meets the rigorous demands of the rail industry – high sensitivity, reliability, and rugged strength to withstand great mechanical stress under a wide range of environmental conditions. The Model 956 consists of four sets of front-back contacts housed in a cast-aluminum cover. A mechanical linkage to the controller actuates the contacts. Thus, the controller may be used to integrate the positions of various devices with suitable control circuits. Commonly used with switches to detect switch positions, Model 956 controllers can also detect the positions of the derails, bridge locks, slide detectors, etc. They can shunt track circuits as well as control relay circuits.

One Piece Rail Skate

G&B Specialties’ One Piece Rail Skate is a heavy-duty device used to stop railcars moving at normal switching speeds. These skates are made for severe service, especially in classification yards, where long and very heavy trains are being formed. The skate is placed in front of the moving railcar. The sharp, tapered tail of the skate lets the wheel mount and slide with the skate. A hardened high back prevents the wheel from jumping over. The ensuing friction brings the railcar to a gradual stop. Standard color is aluminum; however, fluorescent orange and safety yellow is available for increased night visibility.

The switch point adjuster is used for adjusting how far the switch machine will throw the points. G&B can custom forge any operating rod to any length and any offset in our forge shop.

Packaged Switch Machine Layouts

Switch machine layouts consist of a variety of forged rods, machined castings, junction boxes, and hardware conveniently packaged together. They are the connecting mechanism between an electric switch machine and the two rails at a turnout location. Switch circuit controller is an electromechanical device that physically detects the position of a rail and is interfaced with the signaling circuit to permit or prevent a train from crossing a particular turnout location.

Roof-Mounted pantographs for tram lines, metropolitan railways, metros, traction units (electrical multiple units - EMUs), trains and locomotives as well as potential special-purpose vehicles are developed for various overhead line systems and speeds, whereby a raising to and lowering from the overhead line is carried out by an electric or pneumatic drive depending on customer requirements.  The continuous contact force to the overhead line at higher speeds is either realised by mechanical deflectors or by a specifically developed electric-pneumatic control system. If requested, an emergency drop is offered, which lowers the pantograph as quickly as possible in the event of collisions with the overhead line.

PhotoTAG™

PhotoTAG™ uses a wayside mounted, high speed camera to capture vehicle identification labelling on the side of passing vehicles. This system can replace the requirement for RFID vehicle tagging in order to recognise rail traffic for the purpose of building train consists, trending wayside measurements of vehicle defect observations and/ or weigh in motion measurements.
 
Track IQ have specifically developed and field trialled the PhotoTAG system to facilitate rapid introduction of Wayside Detectors into environments where RFID vehicle tagging is not available or where vehicle ID's are required to be checked prior to removal from service for maintenance.
 
Adaptable to both the RailBAM and WCM databases and other industry systems PhotoTAG ensures that alerts for defects are immediately associated with the appropriate vehicle.
